Orange Cranberry Sauce

I never enjoyed cranberry sauce until I was in college. And at that point, I only really liked it with cream cheese, a ton of turkey and between some toasted bread. Now days, understanding the sugar content in pre made foods, I started appreciating foods in their natural state and making my own. So here, we go, super simple – you can do it too!

What you’ll need:
2 bags whole cranberries (I used Ocean Spray, but any will do)
2 oranges (keep some rind if you like it really orangey)
1/4-1/2 cup honey or maple syrup (depends how sweet or tart you like your cranberry sauce)

You’ll also need:
A mid-size pot
Spatula or spoon

Take the two oranges and squeeze the heck out of them to create a juice base for your cranberries. Warm up the orange juice over a low heat. Add in the cranberries keep on a medium to low heat. The cranberries will start to pop and give it a stir every few minutes or so. If you like an orangey taste, take some of an orange peel and zest in some rind. Once 90% of the cranberries have popped, add in the honey or the syrup, mix away. Taste test it and if it as an adequate tart/sweetness, then it’s time to eat!
