Fresh Food, Live Music and Happy People

Farmers Market

Fresh produce – yum! In Portland we are fortunate to have a huge variety of seasonal fruits and veggies within every 15 miles or so. The Farmer’s Markets continue to get better each year, if you haven’t been to one yet, I highly recommend you do. Not only will your produce be extremely fresh, you will know where it comes from and you will be supporting our local economy. Not to mention there are just a lot of friendly people at markets you can’t help yourself but leave feeling happier than you arrived. As spring winds down and summer is peaking its head around the corner – be sure to get your hands on some of these amazing spring foods at your local market!

Spring:

  • apricots
  • artichokes
  • asparagus
  • grapefruit
  • green onions
  • leeks
  • lemons
  • lettuce
  • mint
  • mushrooms
  • parsley
  • radishes
  • rhubarb
  • spinach
  • spring onions
  • strawberries
  • wild greens

Listed below are local markets in Portland and the surrounding areas, thanks to Portland Farmers Market for creating such an informative list. Although some vendors accept checks and credit cards, I would still recommend taking some cash. I have noticed ATM’s at a few this year but going prepared will ensure you have the best experience on your first trip. Don’t forget your own reusable grocery bag, this is helpful to know you have a sturdy bag for your tasty eats. Often times you will get to enjoy a local band or two and don’t forget to go with a little appetite so you can taste the samples of fresh food!
